This article describes how to add a new Dropbox data source in Nexla.

1. Begin Adding the Dropbox Data Source
- Log into Nexla with your provided credentials to view the Nexla Dashboard.
If you need credentials, contact support@nexla.com.
- Select
from the toolbar on the left side of the screen.
- Click
in the upper right corner of the screen.

in the upper right corner of the screen.
2. Input Your Credential
- Select
to open the Add a New Credential window and begin adding a new Dropbox credential.
To connect to Dropbox using a previously created credential, such as one that has been shared, select that credential, click
in the top right corner of the screen, and skip to Section 3.
- In the pop-up window that appears, click
or
to sign into your Dropbox account with your Google or Apple ID. Alternatively, enter the email and password associated with the Dropbox account, and click
.
If you are already signed into the Dropbox account to be added in the browser that you are using, skip this step, and continue to Step 3.
- Click
to allow Nexla to access the files and folders in the Dropbox account.
- In the Add New Credential window, enter a name for the credential in the Credential Name field.
- Optional: Enter a description of the credential in the Credential Description field.
- Optional: To address file encryption using Nexla, click
to access the following additional credential configuration option:
- To configure Nexla to process encrypted files such that the source will decrypt files before scanning and the destination will encrypt generated files before they are uploaded to storage, check the box next to
. This will append additional related fields to be populated in the Add New Credential window.
File encryption/decryption is performed using the PGP encryption protocol.
- Enter the ID of the user whose public key will be used for file encryption/decryption in the External User ID field.
- Enter the public key of the external user whose ID was entered in Step # in the External User's Public Key field.
- Enter the user ID used to generate the PGP private key in the Your User ID for Private Key field.
- Enter the password associated with the user ID entered in Step # in the Your Password for Private Key field.
- Enter the PGP private key associated with the username entered in Step # in the Your Private Key field.
This is the private key that will be used to encrypt/decrypt files.
- Enter the ID of the user whose public key will be used for file encryption/decryption in the External User ID field.
- To configure Nexla to process encrypted files such that the source will decrypt files before scanning and the destination will encrypt generated files before they are uploaded to storage, check the box next to

3. Configure the Data Source
- Find the Dropbox location from which Nexla should read data. Expand files as necessary by clicking the
icon next to each.
- Select the location from which data should be read by hovering over it and clicking the
button that appears to the right.
Once a file is selected, the button will display
, and the path of the selected location will be shown at the top of the list.
4. Schedule Data Source Scanning
- In the Advanced Settings menu on the right, use the Scheduling pulldown menu to specify how often Nexla should fetch data from the source.
The default setting configures Nexla to fetch any new data from the source once every day.
- For options such as "Every N Hours" and "Every N Days", use the additional pulldown menu that appears when these options are selected to specify N in defining the fetching frequency.

- Optional:To set a specific time at which Nexla should fetch any new data from the source, check the
box, and type or use the pulldown menus to enter the desired time.
- Optional: Use the remaining Advanced Settings options to specify additional settings for the data source, including options related to text files and delimiter-separated values.

4. Finish Creating the Dropbox Data Source
- Click
in the upper right corner to create the new Dropbox data source.
- The confirmation page indicates that Dropbox has been successfully created as a data source.
- Optional: Edit the name of the data source by clicking on the displayed name and entering the desired text.
- Optional: Add a description of the data source by clicking on
below the source name and entering the desired text.
- To return to My Data Sources, click
in the upper right corner of the screen.
To view the newly created data source, click.
To view datasets detected from the newly added source, click.
